Colour Noise | Filip brož

8. 9. 2026 - 23. 11. 2026

At traditional fairs, kitsch, fantasy, commerce and childhood memories come together without restraint. Saturated colours, illuminated signs, inflatable figures, painted backdrops and reflections in glass create a kind of visual noise in which reality merges with illusion. For a brief time, the fair creates a world of its own – vivid, noisy and ever-changing, built from rides, images, lights and the promise of entertainment. Technologies, attractions and forms of amusement may change, yet the essential nature of the fair has remained remarkably similar across generations: a temporary world removed from everyday life, shaped by spectacle, anticipation and shared experience.
The series COLOUR NOISE was photographed at fairs across the Czech Republic between 2024 and 2026. The photographs neither judge nor ironise this environment. Instead, they capture its energy, its many layers and the peculiar visual order that emerges from apparent chaos. People become part of the scenery, blending into advertisements, figures and reflections, or, conversely, suddenly standing out among them for a fleeting moment. The photographs embrace an abundance of visual stimuli while at the same time searching for subtle relationships, gestures and chance connections. What at first appears to be a jumble of colours and forms gradually comes together into images poised somewhere between observed reality and an imaginary world.

Filip Brož (*1989, Hradec Králové) first encountered photography as a child through the compact cameras used by his father. He began pursuing it more seriously with the advent of digital photography and, later, the smartphone. Initially, his work focused primarily on landscape and documentary photography.
Professionally, he worked as a newspaper journalist, combining writing with photography and reportage. Over time, his attention increasingly shifted towards the street and the everyday situations that unfold without staging or a predetermined script.
His work focuses on everyday life and is rooted in the belief that compelling photographs do not have to be made in distant or extraordinary places, but can emerge from attentive observation of one’s immediate surroundings.
In 2026, he became a member of the VERUM PHOTO creative collective.
